iPrincess

It has been a while since I have had a chance to sit down and write anything; a new baby, a new job and just general life have got in the way, but I have been meaning to blog about a project I did at the end of last year…

My daughter had asked for a computer for Christmas last year, and whilst Catherine (she who must be generally obeyed) had a ton of reservations about giving a four year old a computer, she relented. The other issue to overcome was that my daughter had stipulated that it be pink, as only girls of 4 can do. Looking at the then market it was not something I was going to find that easy to buy. However, I had a slightly old iMac G5 lurking in my home office doing very little, so I stripped it down, found a local car sprayer and asked him to spray it up metallic pink, which he did (caveating that he didn’t think it would work as he thought the paint would peel due to the heat). I then blinged it up a bit with diamonte Apple logo, which took an age to do with my rather shaky hands.

Eight months on and the paint has not peeled, I have a new geek in the household, who for want of reading particularly well, is a whizz with her iPrincess. I’ll let you be the judge of whether it is good, bad or just plain naff. If anyone wants the details of the garage (in Singapore) who performed the paint wizardry, I would be happy to forward their details.
